Life can offer some unexpected challenges at times, usually undeserved! Nonetheless, being able to handle the bumps along life’s journey is important, but not always easy. I firmly believe that we all have the capacity to learn how to manage some of these unexpected bumps for a smoother ride. Working together, we can discover personal strengths, improve communication, set limits and learn strategies to deal with life changes.
My experience includes over 30 years of working with individuals and families facing difficult life events. I have worked in mental health field with a variety of populations from inpatient hospitalization, residential programs and outpatient settings. My clients include children, adolescents, adults, seniors, couples and parents. I have conducted group therapy on a variety of topics and will sometimes put together a group if there is adequate client interest.
I like to “keep in real” in counseling sessions, working with respect for a client’s personal issues and challenges and sensitivity. My approach is a combination of many theories and therapies including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Strengths-Based and Family System Approach.
